November in Kilbarchan West
November will be a busy month for the Guild with Guild Week from Sunday 20th November. Earlier in the month, on Monday 7th at 7.30pm in the Session House, Mrs Wendy Sandiford will be coming along to speak to us. Her subject is ‘Powder and Paint’, the history of compacts, and she will be bringing along part of her collection to show us.
Our Dedication Service will be on Sunday 20th November at the Morning Service and on the following Monday (21st) we will be visiting the Police Museum in Glasgow and then going on for a ‘fi sh tea’ at Harry Ramsdens. On the Wednesday of that same week we will be hosting the Presbyterial Inter-Guild Quiz in our Hall when teams from all the Guilds will compete.
Also on Sunday 20th, West Life will be having a Soup and Sandwich lunch after church. So why not give yourself a break from cooking and join your friends for lunch in the hall after the service.

Lochwinnoch Mini Food Fair
After the success of the September Food Festival, the local food group ‘Eat Lochwinnoch’ are starting a monthly ‘mini food fair’ outside the McKillop. The fi rst of these is planned for Saturday Nov 19th, from 11am – 3pm. This will be a food-only affair, with local producers, fresh meat, fi sh, local cheese and deli products, burgers, soups and pasta, specialist foods, pickles and jams, coffee and cakes, sweets and chocolate fountain and school stall so far.
We would very much like to encourage locally sourced/produced foodstuffs, so if you are interested in having a stall please get in touch with the food group either through Rob at the LEAP offi ce, Ivan at The Junction, or Sean at the butchers.
If you would like to help with or contribute to this event and to the activities of Eat Lochwinnoch - such as involvement in a food co-operative - we would be delighted to hear from you. The sustainable success of these ventures depends entirely on strong support from the community.
We are also planning a Spring Food Festival similar to the September one, so there is plenty of time to get your produce together for that! This is currently set for Sat May 5th 2012.
If these events are suffi ciently supported and work well, they will make the village a more lively, fun and resilient place to live.

Breast Buddies!
Breastfeeding (or know someone who is)? Whether you are pregnant, just starting out or have been feeding for a while, sometimes we could all do with a little support.
Breastfeeding can seem a little overwhelming in the early days and going along to a group can give you the support and encouragement to keep feeding your baby. It’s a great way to meet other mums in your area and pregnant ladies can also fi nd out what to expect in those fi rst few weeks.
Groups are relaxed and all topics are up for discussion including sleepless nights, weaning and a partners ability to sleep through anything and everything! So why not come along and join us for coffee and a chat.
The group is run by The Breastfeeding Network and we meet in Kilbarchan Guide Centre, Barn Green, Kilbarchan, Monday, 1pm- 2.30pm (look us up on facebook) or why not pop in to West Johnstone Learning Centre on Tuesdays, 12.30pm-2pm
Supportline 0300 100 0210 (9.30am- 9.30pm every day)?
