Houston and Killellan Kirk Halloween Family Cèilidh
You are invited to enjoy a wonderful Halloween Family Cèilidh in the Kirk Hall on Saturday 29th October. The dancing will run from 6pm until 10pm. You don’t have to wear a costume, but we will award a prize for the one in the best fancy dress. You can simply come to watch the fun and games but it would be so much better to participate! See the witches dancing round the cauldron and join in if you dare or if you are asked!! Try “Dookin’ for apples” and “Eat the Treacle Scone”. The rest of the evening is left to the ghouls and witches so be ready for anything to happen!! There’s no need to eat before you come - enjoy the Halloween fare! Tickets are £8. Children under 14 years £3. Provide your own refreshments!
The Kirk has missionary partners in Mwandi Zambia, and container loads of goods have been sent in the past. We are aware that there is a need for baby clothes there again They told us that the gift of clothes helped to persuade some of the HIV positive mums NOT to breast feed their new babies (which would have made the babies HIV positive also). So, as there is no word of another container going out, some in the congregation decided to see if a small jiffy bag full of baby clothes and posted ordinary mail would reach Mwandi successfully. Different members of the congregation have sent a parcel out monthly for the past few months and news has reached us that the parcels are arriving safely. If any others would like to donate to the parcels (anything appropriate for a child, premature birth - six months) or volunteer to organise and post a parcel once a year Barbara Ann Brown, tel: 325452 would be pleased to hear from you.
A new club has been added to the list of Kirk activities - for anyone interested in knitting. The Houston & Killellan Knitting Club (aka Chix with Stix) started on Monday 3rd October in the Kirk Halls from 10am - 12.30pm. Anyone requiring further information should contact June Wilson (01505 610515).
