Johnstone Rotary have welcomed another visitor from Rotary District 1230, this time it was the District Governor herself.
Roberta Gaitan, who is a member of Erskine & District Club came along to encourage us in our Rotary activities and compliment us on our past achievements. Prior to taking over as District Governor, Roberta attended the Rotary International Assembly in San Diego, California where she met over 500 other governors- elect from all over the world and in particular she met Kalyan Banerjee who is the current President of Rotary International and who announced that his theme for the 2011-12 Rotary year was to be “Reach within to Embrace Humanity”. Apart from the goal of eradicating Polio, Kalyan urged Rotarians to continue with the work we are good at such as providing clean, safe water; spreading literacy and working in so many ways with the youth of the world. Roberta’s words of encouragement were much appreciated. Photo above: Roberta Gaitan with President Steve Gibbs
