Primary School Fun Run
On Wednesday 21st September, Bridge of Weir Primary School held a fun run in their play ground for a charity called “Keanna’s Dream”. Keanna is a young girl who has a condition called Cerebral Palsy which means she is unable to walk. We were raising money to send Keanna to America to have a special operation.
Each class had a brilliant time running inside due to the bad weather. At the end everyone enjoyed their bananas and water, kindly given to us by the local Cooperative. George Bowie was the surprise celebrity and hosted
the
run. Some children got his autograph.
St Columba Church Toddler and Playgroup
Bridge of Weir Primary r ais ed almost £1,000 and now Keanna is one step closer to being able to walk. We are very proud and we would like to thank all the people who organised the fun run and the people who donated money.
Shared Campus Build Underway
GRAHAM Construction has started work to build Inverclyde Council’s new £44 million Shared Campus in Port Glasgow.
The Slaemuir complex will become the new home for Port Glasgow High School and St Stephen’s High School as well as a new Additional Support Needs (ASN) School to replace Glenburn and Lilybank schools.
Port Glasgow High and St Stephen’s will have their own distinct entrances allowing their individual identities and ethos to be retained. Each school will have its own foyer area leading to its own teaching spaces however the foyers will have direct access to a shared ‘agora’ or social hub of the campus. Pupils will have access to lockers and will be able to eat or just sit and talk informally during breaks and lunch times in a space immediately next to the shared dining facilities.

What shall we do when the weather’s bad? Come to Playgroup and work off some energy! We have a wide range of physical play resources and the see-saw is an old favourite as our picture shows with one, two or even three having a turn. There’s also the rocking horse, climbasaurus, tunnels and tents, stepping stones and beams to try plus gym sessions in the big hall on a Monday are lots of fun. Singing games and action songs are always popular and we enjoy the old ones like “Mulberry Bush” as well as learning the words to “Bob the Builder” and these activities are great for building vocabulary and communication skills. So it doesn’t matter if its raining as there’s always something to do at Playgroup. Please come and visit this term if you’re interested in a space and enjoy our topical themes and the build up to Christmas.
It’s a busy time at the moment with our great Craft Fair on 5th November as well as joining with the other groups in the village to take on the catering at the Knapps for the fi reworks on the same night! Thank you to everyone for your support. We’re
looking
forward to our Pampered Chef night at the end of the month which will hopefully be a good fundraiser as well as a good night out for everyone before the Christmas madness kicks in! Get in touch if you fancy coming along.
