CHINESE FILTERS – QUALITY THROUGHOUT

Gil Gingell is the Commercial Director of Filters4Spas and its co-founder. Filters4Spas are exclusive European and Middle Eastern distributors and business partners for Darlly Filtration Limited, the world’s largest manufacturer of cartridge filters which are made in China. Gil knows firsthand that quality products are manufactured in China – and both Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani agree with him!

The ability to manufacture cost effectively a high number of products that maintain a constant level of quality is a skill that should not be undermined by anyone and an ability that savvy companies worldwide are taking full advantage of. There will always be negative comments regarding Chinese manufacture and in some cases the criticism levied may be justified. However, since joining Filters4Spas and entering the European ‘wet leisure’ industry just over a year ago, I have often been surprised and confused by the amount of ill-informed comments concerning the poor quality of products made in China and filters are a particular case in mind. I should confess at this point that my vested interest in the subject is that our cartridge filters are made in China by our business partners Darlly Filtration, who are the biggest manufacturer of replacement filter cartridges in the world. And, believe me these filters are quality through and through.

C In support of my claim that ‘Made in China’ isn’t

hina is the world’s second largest economy and this success has been built from its exports.

necessarily a bad thing, take a look at just a few of the famous global brands that come out of China such as: Apple, HP, Motorola, IBM, Louis Vuitton, Johnson & Johnson, Dolce & Gabbana, Levi Strauss, Armani, Gucci, Versace and Burberry, to name but a small proportion of highly successful and quality conscious companies who choose to place their manufacturing base in China.

Look a little more closely at Apple, one of the most renowned global brands, together with a couple of its products. Over 50 million iPhones have so far been made in China and a staggering 250 million iPods have been assembled in China. Either that’s a massive amount of people buying and continuing to buy rubbish or the figures support the fact that Chinese manufacturing can produce high quality and consistency. In addition many thousands of components are made in China for the world’s greatest brands and assembled in their home nations all round the world.

I would suggest that all of the above stands for excellent quality in some form or another and are accepted as such by the consumer; I would like to add Darlly filters to that list.

“In support of my claim that ‘Made in China’ isn’t necessarily a bad thing, take a look at just a few of the famous global brands ...”

Over 50% of all filter cartridges which now sit in hot tub’s in the UK today are manufactured by Darlly Filtration who also produce filter cartridges for some of the world’s largest specialist hot tub and spa manufacturers. It seems peculiar to me that some in our industry still hold the view that products not flown in from the United States are in some way inferior when according to our customers the reverse is very often true. With the rapid development of science and technology, filtration becomes more and more important in modern manufacturing and daily life. The heart of the filtration technology is the filter cartridges. Darlly has researched and developed many advanced techniques, technologies and processes for filter cartridges manufacturing. Darlly uses the best materials including Reemay media and they utilise precision engineering in their factories. Filters4Spas are proud to be business partners with Darlly and in the past year we have sold many filters across Europe, the Middle East and Asia and have not received a single complaint. We are so convinced that the quality of our product is superior to our competition that our confidence extends to offering a 12 month guarantee, with a filter life time guarantee on the screw thread products. No other manufacture does this. The early signs are that 2011 will be a buoyant year for the sector, let’s hope so, a return to normality would be greatly welcomed with better filters at better prices….and what’s wrong with that? spn
