OASE ANTI-ALGAE POLYCARBONATE SOLAR PROFILES
Well known in the UK pool market, OASE are manufacturers of slatted pool covers and have been since 1968. For 2011 the company has launched a new 83mm width polycarbonate slat with an anti- algae hinge.
This revolutionary solar slat has a patented hinge, which prevents formation of algae into the hook. The hinge is made black on top, so that no light can get onto the hook of the other profile.

t has to be said that pool insulation is the hot topic at the moment and with Part L telling us exactly what we are supposed to do with walls and floors in pools it does seem, well, a bit batty that covers are not included as part of the regulations. As much as 85% of heat loss will waft away in an uncovered pool and if you want to save your customers money then tell them to cover up!
An automatic cover is not in everyone’s budget but there are a number of very efficient automated covers around today that offer a good price spectrum. Automatic covers come in a variety of materials and colour choices and are equally at home on an indoor or outdoor pool. Many people feel that the new regulations should also gently persuade commercial operators to cover their pools whenever they not are in use. And, as many commercial pools, particularly private clubs or hotels,
are subject to the aesthetic desires of their visiting clientele it follows that in many cases only a well installed hide-away automatic pool cover will suffice.

Standard PVC or polycarbonate solar slats allow algae to grow easily into the hinge of the profiles. This is due to the fact that the hinge is not protected from heat and light. OASE say that many customers have reported being unhappy with this occurrence in the past and with the new profile, this shortcoming should now have been totally eliminated. Because of its width (83mm), this slatted pool cover will also help to give the swimming-pool a certain degree of safety.
