PASSION CARRIES TANBY TO THREE GOLD WINNING POOL AWARDS

Triple SPATA gold winners Tanby Pools put their award winning style down to one thing – passion. Said Delyse Borley: “I think if you are not passionate about what you do then there’s something missing. It is something we have always strived for, not just Martin and I but everyone who works on these projects.” The Surrey pool designers and builders took seven awards away from the SPATA / BISHTA awards evening with three gold medals highlighting their evening.

The company dominated the SPATA category for concrete pools £60,000 and over, taking gold, silver and bronze. The gold winning pool was a new swimming pool built on the site of an old kidney-shaped pool which was beyond repair. A

stylish Oast House structure remained on site while the new classic shaped pool was installed. A classic garden settling brought Tanby gold in the concrete pools up to £60,000 category with a Surrey pool built for a young family where safety around the pool was the most critical factor. The family wanted the pool at their stylish home which would fit in with the designer gardens and provide for a growing family and have demanding safety standards as well – hence the pool cover. Kingswood in Greater London provided a glamorous project for Tanby which won their third gold in the residential pools up to £75,000 category – a large ground floor level pool with an attached award winning spa. “The aesthetics of this pool were very

important – more important than running costs in fact. It was a very large house and the size of the pool fitted in well with the style and feel of the property,” added Delyse.

“We are very involved with SPATEX. We had all our staff down at the show on the Monday to get involved and they certainly enjoyed all the congratulations which were flowing around.” Tanby also won silver for residential pools up to £75,000, silver in the indoor pools up to £75,000 and silver in the in-ground domestic spas and health pools categories.

SUMPTUOUS £180,000 POOL AND SPA COMPLEX WINS GOLD FOR LONDON SWIMMING POOL COMPANY

When the London Swimming Pool Company sat down with a brief to design and build a pool and spa at a sumptuous new home in Oxshott, the overwhelming theme was quality.

The £180,000 complex at the sumptuous Surrey property won the company the SPATA gold award winner for the UK’s top domestic spa and health

pool. The brief from the owner was to provide a pool and spa to complement the high specification and price of the ‘Arts & Crafts‘ style mansion – making bespoke installations of the highest standard a requirement. Attention to detail was also key. The construction of the 10 metres by 5 metres shotcrete – sprayed concrete pool and sunken spa supplied by Armadale UK, which was completed last year, included deep bed filtration coupled with German auto chlorine and pH control with UV secondary disinfection to provide a water quality standard of the highest grade quality. Specialist low noise pumps prevent transmission of noise through the structure of the concrete building.

The spas in the project featured three seats and one air lounger and eight water jets. The pool interior finishes were specialist glass mosaic from Venice in white opalescent, both in the pool and spa. Europa limestone was used for the steps entry to and for the edges around the pool.

All the fittings in the pool and spa water were 316 grade stainless steel.

The air handling unit was a Heatstar Phoenix 2000 Super Plus manufactured in the UK which provided air and water heating with dehumidification and fresh air exchange with heat recovery. Treated supply air to the pool hall is via an invisible modern linear floor grill set beneath the atrium windows.

The underwater lighting consists of specialist quartz halogen units manufactured by Wibre in Germany.

The London Swimming Pool Company’s other successes at the awards included a bronze in the refurbishments and another bronze in the residential indoor pools between £75,000 and £150,000.
