DAN BECOMES ‘A STAR’ FOR GOLDEN COAST
When Dan Johnson joined Golden Coast he set himself a task. He wanted to learn as much about the products he would be working with as quickly as he could. Less than 18 months after joining the technical sales team at Golden Coast, Daniel Johnson won the SPATA ‘Paul Kite Award for Pool Star of the Year’ at the SPATA and BISHTA award ceremony. Coming from an automotive background and aware of his lack of previous experience in the swimming pool industry, Dan faced a steep learning- curve. He immersed himself in the subject to provide professional technical assistance to customers on a diverse range of subjects and products. His attention to detail, enthusiasm and customer service skills gained during his previous employment, made him a firm favourite with Golden Coast customers, who he deals with on a daily basis. The award citation from Golden Coast said: “Combining self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to listen in order to fully understand and identify a customer’s requirements, Dan is a team player who continues to work hard to achieve his targets which currently include taking his ISPE exam later this year.”
According to Jamie Adams, Managing Director at Golden Coast, several suppliers including Zodiac and Waterco have commented on Dan’s professional approach and his appetite for learning, not only about the benefits of a product but also seeking solutions to meet customers’ needs.
“Dan’s rapid development and understanding of both the products and services the company offers and the diverse nature of our customer base has allowed him to take a more proactive approach to his role. He now regularly visits customers at their premises and offers further advice and training when required,” said Adams.

Riviera transformed a corner of a field into a perfect setting for one of their own cedar wood hot tubs
DARTMOOR LOCATION FOR RIVIERA’S WINNING NATURAL CEDAR HOT TUB
Dartmoor National Park was the location for Riviera Hot Tubs’ award winning residential hot tub between £5,000 and £10,000. Riviera’s own 2.1 metre diameter cedar wood tub was fitted into a specially designed decking area in a garden extension. The client wanted a separate area for the tub as part of a play area.
Said Rivera’s Phil Rathbone: “I brought in a landscaping company as the site started off being just an extra bit of a field. We met up and I had

HYDROPOOL SWIM SPA A swim spa installation costing over £40,000 at a Hertfordshire home won the swim spa/exercise pool category for Hydropool Spas (UK) in the BISHTA awards. The swim spa was a self cleaning 19FX pool with four seats.
The floor level installation meant a good deal of both preparation work and finishing before the complex was finished.
Said Hydropool’s Alex Bunn: “We are finding more people are installing this sort of pool. They want something to look like a pool but with greater flexibility and ease of use.”

WALLED GARDEN SITE FOR SOUTHERN SPAS WINNING TUB
Fitting a stylish new hot tub into a listed walled garden gave Southern Spas & Saunas a real challenge. The PAS 1 hot tub from Certikin was built into part of a pool complex in a traditional farmhouse setting. The end result for Southern Spas boss Paul Maguire and his team was a BISHTA award in the category of best innovative spa. One special feature of the installation is that all the pump room facilities also had to be hidden away behind the walled garden.
Said Paul: “We were delighted to win. We were also thrilled at the number of people who came up and congratulated us afterwards.”
