www.swimmingpoolnews.co.uk ENERGY SAVING INCENTIVE SCHEMES
Carbon Trust – Private sector organisations who have been trading for at least 12 months can apply for interest free loans. The project must show cost effective carbon saving. Visit
www.carbontrust.co.uk for more information.
Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) – MCS is an independent scheme that certifies products and installers in accordance with consistent standards providing reassurance to the customer. Go to
www.microgenerationcertification.org for further information.
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) – The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced on 1 February 2010 plans for a scheme to give incentives for renewable heat generation. This will come into effect April 2011 and guarantees annual payments for those who install technologies such as GSHP or ASHP. Visit the website at
www.decc.gov.uk for the latest information and updates on the scheme.
over-inflated performance claims. “Whilst pricing is straight forward, any importer would be well advised to performance bench test a selection of models themselves in the UK to validate the ‘claimed’ performance ability and to know where they genuinely stand with such issues. Whilst this may be common sense, it is surprising how many importers new to this market have still not done this.
“True heat outputs and efficiencies can easily be confirmed or otherwise using nothing more than a tank of water of reasonable size, say between 1,000 to 2,000 litres, simple thermometers and a simple electrical
test meter. Correct noise levels can also easily be checked and confirmed. “Invariably, different brands will come and go, but which brands and importers will stand the test of time? That’s easy – it will be the ones who offer an effective, reliable product and provide good after sales support – it’s that simple.”
IN HOUSE MANUFACTURING Exclusively distributed in the UK by Paramount UK, the Waterco range of heat pumps are manufactured in house at Waterco Canada and have swiftly become known within the industry for quality, reliability and performance. This year Waterco

celebrated the milestone of 50,000 heat pumps rolling off the production line which is testament to how well the heat pump has been accepted by the pool industry and pool owner alike.
The Waterco Electroheat Heat Pump range is the latest advancement in swimming pool heating. They are an energy efficient way to heat the pool or spa. Electroheat produces up to five times more heat energy than the electrical energy it consumes. Electroheat heat pumps extract latent heat from the surrounding air, intensifies it and transfers it to the swimming pool. For every 1kW of electricity consumed, the Electroheat and the Electroheat Plus, produce 5kW of heat into the pool water.
Being assembled in house and at their plant in Canada ensures that the highest quality control measures are followed and only the best
components used. That includes top brand scroll compressors for quietness and energy efficiency, corrosion resistant pure grade titanium heat exchangers for greater heat transfer and resistance to corrosion, weatherproof ABS cabinets, extra large evaporators for maximum performance and a self management digital display so that the heat pumps become fully automated and works to the maximum efficiency.
For 2011 Waterco are pleased to add the Sub Zero and Heat and Cool heat pumps to the already popular ranges of ElectroHeat and ElectroHeat Plus units.
CLEVER EFFICIENCY
Fairlocks can proudly state that their brilliant energy saving Heatinverter Heat Pump is up to six times more energy efficient than other conventional types of heaters which use electricity, gas, or oil as fuel.
“Correct application and model selection is crucial and it is
Innovation in the form of Heatinverter from Fairlocks
important to appreciate that there is no industry standard when it comes to rating the output capacity...”
