DEEP END BREAK THEIR AWARDS DUCK WITH TRIPLE GOLD

Deep End Pools have been building pools for ten years without any major awards. Then this year, all of a sudden, three came along on the same day! “We were thrilled to get some recognition for what we have been doing from when we started – building pools of the highest design and quality,” said Dan Robinson from Deep End Pools, who claimed three gold awards – all for what for them were very special projects.

Gold number one and the SPATA award which gave the team the most pleasure was in the ‘liner pools £30,000 and over’ category. The project was the prestigious Sanctum on the Green hotel in Cookham Dean in Berkshire designed by Wrotham’s of Berkley Square, London. The pool is a stunning

black style throughout including the pool liner. “It was designed and built to keep in with the ‘olde worlde’ charm of the hotel and works perfectly,” added Dan. The concrete insulated onsite liner pool with black granite swimming pool surround and premium lighting package ‘wowed’ the judges. Deep End Pools of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire and Taplow, Berkshire took a second SPATA gold in the liner pools up to £30,000 category. The project came from a client who arrived at the Deep End shop late one Saturday afternoon and knew exactly what he wanted and provided a dream job for the company. The installation in Burnham, Buckinghamshire was a concrete liner pool with an ardoise pool surround.

The final gold BISHTA award for a residential hot tub below £5,000 was for a hot tub in a stunning position in a holiday home in Christchurch in Dorset – by the bank of an estuary. The client was a local Taplow man who wanted to position the hot tub to look out over the water.

“There was a very limited power supply to the site and the 13 amp mobile station limited the job but we were able to give him the hot tub and the position,” added Dan. The half sunk in installation provided stunning riverside views.

When Asher Swimpool Centre were asked to renovate a pool within a walled garden in Boston, Lincolnshire it was clear the job would be a demanding one.

before Asher Swimpool Centre got to work on it

Hydrotherapy pools now represent 50% of David Hallam Ltd’s business so it’s no surprise the Rotherham based business has built up a high level of expertise in this specialist area. The company took the gold and silver award in the special requirements pools category sponsored by Heatstar for its project at the Newfield and Talbot School in Sheffield. The winning deck level pool had a number of special features including a waterfall and special fibre optics lighting both in the waterfall and through the water. Spa seats with jets in a separate area completed the high

A new on site lining was added with a new automatic dosing system and a new Calorex heat pump. The owner wanted his grandchildren to be able to use the pool and so added a safety automatic pool cover. Asher Swimpool has 11 staff and is managed by the second generation of family owners. Added Claire: “These awards are great for our profile and for local newspaper PR. It shows that as the business has been going for 43 years and survived two economic downturns we can still do things to a very high standards.”

The company also won silver for the Calorex sponsored ‘Environmental Award’.

quality project. One of the key features of any hydrotherapy pool is its water temperature which at 35°C helps stimulate recovery for children who have either had an accident or who are not able to move normally in the pool.

David Hallam director James Foers said: “The pool was a really nice project. Hydrotherapy pools because of the need for warmer water puts extra demands on filtration plants which often need to be twice the size of a conventional pool so there are areas of difference when it comes to the designing and building of these pools.”

A large number of special features were include in the award winning pool at the Newfield and Talbot School in Sheffield
