Maymont’s 100-acre Victorian estate offers indoor and outdoor facilities near the Maymont House Museum and the Italian and Japanese Gardens for meet- ings. Meeting rooms and terraces over- looking the manicured property are also available in its Nature and Visitor Center.


Additional meeting venues in the region include the 700,000 square foot Greater Richmond Convention Center, which has meeting rooms available for both large and intimate settings. State-of-the-art sound systems, attached covered park- ing and on-site catering make meetings here easy to plan and coordinate.


The Richmond Raceway Complex offers meeting rooms that can accommodate 300 to 9,000 guests all with the excite- ment of being near a racetrack. The com- plex’s four connecting buildings have more than 150,000 square feet of meet- ing, exhibition and special event space.


Things to Do


The Richmond Region is home to a mul- titude of museums, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Virginia Historical Society, American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar Museum, The Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, and White House of the Confederacy, Holocaust Museum, Maggie Walker House and more.


Haunts of Richmond are the city’s original ongoing, nighttime walking ghost tours that offer four guided tour options through historic Richmond neighbor- hoods.


Visitors can be part of “Confederate Dinner,” where they enjoy a dinner from the year 1862 with music and historical characters dressed in period attire, dis- cussing the events of the Civil War.


Another option is to take part in a “Civil War Wedding” (beginning late November) where groups can attend a wedding from the Civil War era, complete with dinner and dancing.


Not far outside of Roanoke are the spectacular Luray Caverns


St. John's Church is where Patrick Henry delivered his famous “Give me liberty, or give me death” speech. Reenactments of that day take place here free of charge every Sunday afternoon from Memorial Day to Labor Day.


Segway of Richmond offers a number of options. Visitors can take a guided tour or rent a Segway and explore on their own after a short lesson. Groups can also organize team-building activities with Segway, as well.


For theater enthusiasts, there is Hanover Tavern and Barksdale Theater, a historic landmark that is the nation’s first dinner theater. Both Landmark Theatre and Richmond CenterStage offer perform- ances and shows, as well.


G Force is an indoor go-kart racetrack where groups can race on a professional- ly designed 1/4-mile indoor road track.


Peak Experiences offers opportunities to develop team building skills high above the ground as participants learn the basics of climbing and trusting col- leagues, teammates and friends.


Ravenchase Adventures can create and design adventures specifically for a group that explore the historic, cultural and vibrant parts of Richmond.


Groups can enjoy the one-of-a-kind James River featuring the only Class IV rapids in a U.S. urban setting. Guided rafting, kayaking and canoeing trips are all available through Riverside Outfitters.
