A new program to heighten awareness of Phoenixville’s Franklin Commons - and its tenant Rock & Roll After School - has been launched to highlight the unique suitability of these facilities for hosting events, especially parties that “really rock” in “a most uncommon place.”
Rock & Roll After School opened in Franklin Commons in June 2009 with its brand new 4,000 square-foot profession- al performance venue featuring staging, 24-channel sound and lighting, a game room with a huge chalkboard wall, eight individual lesson rooms and expansive custom wall murals.
A recent open house at Franklin Commons showcased this 225,000 square foot mixed-use educational, cor- porate and event facility along with the Rock & Roll After School to event plan- ners, chambers and visitors bureaus, approved caterers and related profes- sionals.
The celebration featured live musical per- formances by the Carl Bahner Trio as well as music by Tom Hefferon of Epic Events; a light show by Albert Scarcelli of Full Moon Entertainment; wine from Valerie Castle of Black Walnut Winery; and food by Drexelbrook Catering, Queen of Hearts Catering and Cornucopia Caterers. Sweet Talk Cakes created a custom cake, and Mike Irby Photography took pictures at the event.

The Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern is a state-of-the- art conference facility in the heart of Chester County that is ideal for confer- ences and events. It features an on site conference planning staff, as well as a 300-seat auditorium, which is ideal for keynote speakers and general sessions. Additionally, the center is home to exhibit space for display of posters and aca- demic papers, plus classrooms for break- out sessions and smaller lectures.

Several hotels are located within a few miles of the conference center, and Chester County is home to numerous attractions nearby.
