The Brandywine River Museum's gal- leries boast original beams and wide board floors, plus glass-walled lobbies for expansive views of the historic river and countryside. Events can be held in its lob- bies, restaurant, lecture room and court- yard. Seated dinners for 80 can be served in the restaurant overlooking the river, while the lobbies and courtyard can accommodate as many as 600 for cock- tail receptions or standing buffets.

For those who love to eat, head for Restaurant Row in Media. Hop onto the trolley or stroll down the street and enjoy lunch or dinner at any of the community’s dozens of restaurants ranging from French, Thai and Asian to Irish, European and American.


The oldest building in continuous use, the Chester City Courthouse, has been restored. The Southerly log house dates to the late 1600s. Check out stunning historic homes and estates, such as Chanticleer, tour the famous Brandywine

Battlefield, or visit the largest single WWII shipyard in the world.


Rail enthusiasts will take pleasure in the Newtown Square Railroad Museum, open weekends from May through September, while history buffs will enjoy the PA Veterans Museum in Media, open year round, Thursday through Sunday.


The Pleasure Garden at Chanticleer, open April through October, is the only Main Line Estate that is open to the public, and it features 36 acres of courtyards, wood- lands, water gardens and a ruin garden.


Finally, the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge along the Delaware River features 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, fish- ing, canoeing, exhibits, conference and classroom facilities, and is just minutes from Philadelphia International Airport.
