What's New
Delaware County’s 14-mile stretch along the Delaware River is fast becoming the “go to” place for world-class sports, entertainment and fun. There are several reasons why business is “kicking into high gear” throughout the county, with Major League Soccer being just the one of them!
In June, major league soccer’s newest franchise, the Philadelphia Union, played its first game in PPL Park, a new state-of- the-art soccer stadium built on the banks of the Delaware River.
Two years ago Harrah’s Chester Casino and Race Track became the hot spot in the county for live horse racing, slots, shows and dining. This year the thriving entertainment center added table games to its mix of offerings, making it a perfect place to entertain clients or to unwind after a busy day.
In nearby Aston, PA, a huge new industry is about to take off. The Sun Center
Mid-Atlantic EVENTS Magazine 51
Studio, a sprawling $85 million film studio complex, is slated to open next year.
It
will include two 20,000 square foot sound stages, plus office space and more. Filmmakers from all over the world will be able to produce TV shows, feature films, documentaries and music videos here.
Going beyond the production of movies and television shows on its sound stages, Sun Center Studios will introduce to the region a novel and exciting special event and tourist facility, as well. This venue will pay homage to the Golden-era of Hollywood while offering uniquely mod- ern, cutting-edge amenities.
