LED lighting provides numer-


ous benefits over fluorescent light- ing. The technology’s lighting hard- ware has a long lifespan, cuts energy costs significantly, is nearly inde- structible, and eliminates disposal challenges. Fluorescent lights lose 60 percent of their brightness in one year vs. LED lights’ 6 percent. In ad- dition, fluorescent lights give off sub- stantial heat while LEDs emit al- most none. Finally, unlike fluores- cent lighting, LED lights do not flicker, which has been cited as a cause of cataracts.
