Gnesta, Sweden —In medical applications, reducing the level of noise and other parasitic disturbances is important for keeping patients comfortable. When designing equipment, engineers are often required to develop products that operate by free air convec- tion, which limits forced ventilation to peak demand. The power supply in a piece of equipment must con- tinue to deliver reliably in these situations. The OBM03 and OBP03 power supplies have been designed to meet these conditions. Combining a layout to facilitate natural air


convection cooling and efficient switching topology, these supplies are made to provide continuous power operation of 100 and 200W. When extra power is required, with limited forced air, the available power increases to 150W at only 7.5CFM for the OBM03 and to 300W at 10CFM for the OBP03. Designed for medical BF applications, these supplies withstand an input-to-output isolation of


4000VAC, input-to-ground of 1500VAC and out- put-to-ground of 1500VAC. At 264VAC, the leak- age current is below 175µA for the OBM03 and below 220µA for the OBP03. In medical environments, parasitic noise can


impact sensitive equipment, which requires extreme attention paid to conducted and emitted radiations. These supplies have a built-in filter and loop-less layout which are EMC IEC60601-1-2 and ITE com- pliant. They are also EN55011/EN55022 class B con- ducted and radiated. With a nominal input voltage of 100-240V at


50/60Hz, seven available output voltages spanning 12-48VDC, a typical power factor of 0.98, and an operating temperature window of 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F), these power supplies fit into a large num- ber of medical applications. Other notable features include over-voltage

The OBM03 is packaged in an open frame, while the OBP03 is in a low-profile open frame. In addition to the frame configuration, the OBP03 is avail- able with an L-bracket and a full enclosure with an integrated fan. It also includes an inhibit function. The power supplies meet safety standards UL ES and CSA 60601-1 and 60950-1, as well as complying
