Schurter Intros High Current Chokes


Santa Rosa, CA — Schurter has ex- panded its range of current compen- sated chokes with high current types for PCB mounting. The new DKIH se- ries is available for single- and three- phase applications with rated currents from 10 to 50A. The chokes are light- weight and compact, and suitable to suppress EMI noise caused by power applications on the PCB. Like other aspects of electronic


design, the power portion is often built using discrete components on PCBs. With the trending integration of smaller components, thermal prob- lems and high current on the circuit board can arise. It also becomes in- creasingly challenging to meet EMC requirements with a filter package due to the resulting space constraints; therefore a filter on the board with dis- crete components is a good solution. Next, the capacitors and a common mode choke, with asymmetrical effec- tive inductance, are not very effective to dampen EMI noise. The DKIH-1 series is suitable for


single-phase AC or DC applications from 10 to 50A. They are designed and approved according to IEC 60983, UL 1283 and CSA 22.2 no. 8. The voltage rating is 300VAC (IEC, UL), 250VAC (CSA) and 425VDC. Inductance rat- ings range from 0.30 to 0.90mH The DKIH-3 series is suited for


three-phase applications from 10 to 50A. The chokes are designed accord- ing to IEC 608239 and are rated to 600VAC, making them applicable for
