Visual Layout Function from Kwik Mark
McHenry, IL — Kwik Mark has in- troduced a pre-programmed dot peen marker with iTeach™ technology, the visual layout function. The lay- out function has been developed to make prints or part dimensions un- necessary. There are no measuring or layout tools needed and no pro- gramming experience is nec- essary. The user simply “jogs”
the machine, using the marking tip as a pointer, to define the text path. Mark- ing text on a radius requires only touching any three points along an arc or hole and the machine will auto- matically calculate the ra- dius, the start and end an- gles, and place the text. Marking text on an angle is performed by touching any two points along the edge of the angle and the machine will measure and place the text along it. Marking text within a defined area is per- formed by touching two opposite cor-
ners of a rectangle and the machine will automatically fit the text (height and width) within. To mark text in several defined locations, the user touches one point per line of text to define the starting point and the ma- chine will automatically set the X and Y position for each.

Alpha: Soldering Systems and Solutions

Pulse Electronics’ Antennas Used in World Trade Center
San Diego, CA — Pulse Electronics Corporation’s Clarity family of an- tennas has been selected by a major US wireless carrier to enable wire- less network coverage in a building of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Over 700 of the com- pany’s distributed antenna system (DAS), ultra-thin, clear, ceiling- mount antennas will be deployed in the building. According to the company, the
antennas are a good fit for the build- ing because the project has demand- ing RF conditions created by the steel and reinforced concrete construction, but the visitors and employees in the buildings must have clear and consis- tent connection to the internet and mobile phone service. The company’s Clarity family of
DAS antennas are nearly transparent. They have a low profile, extending 0.33 in. (8.4 mm) below the ceiling. The antennas cover all cellular bands from 608MHz through 2700MHz and their PIM (passive intermodulation distortion) rating is better than –155dBc at 2 x 20W (2 x 43dBm). The family of antennas is part of the com- pany’s PIMinator® line of low passive intermodulation antennas.
