HOW TO BEAT THE MONDAY MORNING BLUES


A happy and productive day is usually achieved by starting out fresh in the morning. Unfortunately, for most people Monday mornings are very difficult. Here is good advice on beating those Monday morning blues…


Finish as many jobs as possible on Friday. Never carry non- business issues and tasks from your weekend over to Monday morning. Get them out of the way or postpone them until later in the week. Schedule your weekend activities for Saturday and for Sunday morning and afternoon. Keep Sunday night for relaxation. If you sleep late on Monday mornings, you will only be adding to your misery. Rise early, exercise, have breakfast, read the paper and get yourself into the routine of the coming week. Good company and stimulating conversation can lift your spirits. If you want to get a good start to the week, schedule a meeting with interesting colleagues. Spread major jobs throughout the week. This will make the thought of going back to work after the weekend easier. Plan something enjoyable for Wednesday. Managers need to set an example. See work as an enjoyable experience and demonstrate this to your staff, particularly on Monday mornings. There’s nothing worse for worker motivation than to turn up to find a stuffy office on a Monday morning. So make sure the air conditioning has been switched on well in advance of their arrival. Listen to lively, upbeat music or motivational CDs/podcasts on your way to work. It will do wonders for your morning mood.
