If you’re into feelings, you’re into subjective


language and poetry is full of subjective language.


Work in groups of four. Discuss how someone has made a life-changing difference in your life or that of someone you know. Making a difference in someone’s life can be through random acts of kindness, e.g. doing the shopping or carrying heavy parcels for someone, babysitting for someone free of charge, preparing bags of toiletries and towels for people in night shelters or places of safety, etc. Tink about the important roles teachers, lecturers, family (especially grandparents), ministers and sporting coaches have played in your life. Who helped/advised/influenced you the most? What advice did they give you? Discuss this topic for about 10- 15 minutes. One of you has to report back to the class.


5. Poetry


Early in your school career you were introduced to poetry. You therefore know that a poem is a piece of creative writing in verse which oſten expresses deep feelings or thoughts in clear, exact language and figures of speech (see below).
