In preparation for the 2013 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Project October event, chair Les Sandberg and past-chair Doug Arendt guided the full staff through its summer retreat at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education on Friday, July 26.
Following welcomes, introduction of new staff and an overview of the event timeline, coordinators Carol Dahle, Chris Gleason and Tim McCollum met with their respective staff preparing music folders and communications.
A total of 316 students have been invited to participate in the 2013 WSMA Middle Level State Honors ensembles. Through the dedicated effort and commitment of the teachers and the WSMA staff who work on the project, the student musicians are treated to an event creating memories that last a lifetime. Conductors for the 2013 honors ensembles include Richard Bjella (choir), Paul Ousley (orchestra) and Sam Hazo (Band.)
Rehearsal will be held at Waunakee High School on Friday, October 25. Saturday morning rehearsals and finale concert will be held on October 26 at the Marriott Madison-West. Concert begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased at the door or ordered in ad- vance from
