WSMA Announces Logo Use Policy and Guidelines x
Over the years, WSMA has received many requests from schools and private vendors for use of its logo on programs, shirts and commemorative wares, particularly in conjunction with district and state festi- vals. In response to the popularity of these requests, the WSMA Board of Directors approved a policy this June for use of the WSMA logo, helping to protect its reg- istered name and identity, while offering graphic guidelines and opportunities for its use.
The WSMA Branding & Logo Rules policy defines procedures for use of the WSMA identity stating that the name and logo are the exclusive property and right of the organization and can only be displayed or used for official WSMA business. Making It In the Music Biz Seminar Free Event!
On Saturday, November 9 members of the music community will come together for the “Making It in the Music Biz” seminar spon- sored by Wisconsin School Music Association in collaboration with Full Compass and Dennis Graham Associates. This event focuses on providing practical and useful information to young musicians statewide and allowing students to interact with professionals in the music business.
Two clinicians will be sponsored by Yamaha Corporation of America and will provide a drum set and guitar clinic, field ques- tions and even participate in an artist jam at the end of the seminar. Past clinicians have included the likes of Lee Sklaar, Chris Poland, Tom Brechtlein, Alex Skolnick, Nathan East and many more. Topics include ways to get your band noticed, using social media/ online methods to promote your band, recording demonstrations, publishing, royalties, copyright and many more.
At the conclusion of last year’s event there was a general consensus that this type of gathering was greatly successful and rewarding because participants learned from each other. This year’s offering will be even bigger and better and the cost to participants is absolutely free!
