Florence, KY — Ticona, the engineer- ing polymers business of Celanese Corporation, has worked closely with DELO, a manufacturer of in- dustrial adhesives. DELO has developed a new adhesive solu- tion for this purpose that allows Vectra LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) from Ticona, to ad- here to FR4 and ceramic boards even after triple reflow process, without loss of adhesion. Vectra LCP is an excellent

material for fine molded compo- nents. This liquid crystal poly- mer is extremely flowable and fills long, thin and complicated flow paths without problems and with minimal warpage. The ma- terial is also inherently flame re- tardant as well as heat distor- tion-resistant up to 340°C and has very good strength. And Vec- tra LCP delivers the properties that permit further successful development of the miniaturiza- tion of electrical equipment. This special adhesive even ful-

fills the ambitious aim of not show- ing any reduction in adhesion even after triple reflow soldering. The test results from Vectra LCP with the specially developed adhesive show a higher compression shear strength than a standard product even after 24-hour storage at room tempera- ture. And after triple reflow solder- ing, the measured value was even more than double that of the stan- dard adhesive system.
