Hammond: New Enclosures for Handheld Instruments

Cheektowaga, NY — New from Ham mond Manufacturing is its new 1553T range of T cases, designed for use in a wide variety of handheld instrumentation, data capture and controller application across all industries.

Initially available in two

sizes 6.50 x 3.15 x 1.10-in. (165 x 80 x 28mm) and 8.27 x 3.94 x 1.26-in. (210 x 100 x 32mm), the enclosures have recessed areas for keypads and displays and are available with or without battery compartments. Versions without a battery

box have two removable end pan- els; the battery versions have a single panel at the top of the unit. The battery box in the larger unit accepts 4 x AA or 2 x 9V cuboid batteries; in the smaller unit, 2 x AA or 1 x 9V. Connectors for both types are supplied. The remov- able plastic end panels are easily machined to provide cutouts to suit LEDs, connectors and switches as required. Molded of flame-retardant ABS,

the units have a smooth curved shape that fits comfortably into the hand. They are produced in light gray or black, both with over-molded contrasting soft side grips as stan- dard. Both top and base are provided with PCB mounting standoffs and

the two shells are assembled togeth- er with screws into brass inserts, allowing repeated access to the inte- rior without degrading the closure. All units can be supplied factory

High-Efficiency LED Drivers

Endicott, NY — Display power sup- ply specialist Endicott Research Group (ERG) has introduced its Large Display Solutions: low-cost, high-efficiency LED drivers and rails specifically designed for LCDs in the 19 to 27-in. (483 to 686mm) diagonal range. Used in test and measure- ment, control, outdoor signage, gam- ing, medical and other applications requiring a larger display with high reliability, these LED driv- er modules power multiple LED strings and offer economically priced power solutions. The new series includes the

SFDZ, SFDQ and SFDT driver modules. All are available as standard products with wide input voltage design, small form factors, wide range dimming, and full brightness and enable control. They are plug-and-play compatible with most OEM LCD panels and are designed, manu- factured and supported in the USA, with a one-year warranty. The SFDZ Series driver pro-

vides high efficiency power (max. current 180mA per string) to LED backlights used in LCDs up to 24-in. (610mm) diagonal. It measures 1.35 x 5-in. (34.3 x 127mm), is less than 12mm high, and includes open/short circuit pro- tection, over voltage protection, under voltage lockout and an adap- tive string voltage, with onboard and external PWM dimming (0-5 V). It provides total output power of

40 Watts (20W per side), powers up to 8 LED strings (4 per side) and is suitable for displays with dual light bars. The SFDQ Series driver pro- vides power (max. current 140mA per string) to LED backlights used in LCDs up to 27-in. diagonal, with a

LED drivers for large-format industrial displays.

The SFDT Series driver is capa-

ble of driving up to 12 discrete LED strings (6 per side) with a typical input voltage of 12V. It provides an onboard and external PWM dimming ratio of 255:1 and is compatible with several OEM LED backlit panels up

to 27-in. diagonal. Contact: Endicott Research

maximum string voltage of 70V — the highest in the ERG LED Driver family — with external PWM dim- ming to 500:1 and onboard PWM dimming to 255:1. It measures 1.5 x 5-in. (34.3 x 127mm), and is less than 14mm high. The driver provides total output

power of 30 Watts and powers up to 4 LED strings.
