Mirtec Expands Manufacturing Facility

Anseong, South Korea — MIRTEC has completed its expansion project at its manufacturing facility in Anseong, South Korea. The expan- sion provides an additional 15,250-ft2 of manufacturing area, increasing the total square footage of the facili- ty to more than 64,075-ft2. “MIRTEC has experienced im-

pressive growth over the last several years,” said CEO Chanwha Pak. “Since the grand opening of our Anseong manufacturing facility in 2008, we have seen our production volume triple from 350 units per year to a forecasted volume of more than 1,000 units by end of 2012. This ex- pansion ensures our ability to keep up with growing demand for our

products and services.” MIRTEC’s new expanded manufacturing facility will support a total production capac- ity of approximately 2,500 units per year. “The fact is that we were sim- ply running out of room,” said Brian D’Amico, President of MIRTEC’s North American Sales and Service Division. “This additional manufac- turing area will allow us to quickly ramp-up production to meet growing demand for our products while deliv- ering the high level of quality and customer service to which MIRTEC

is committed.” Contact: Mirtec Corp., 3 Morse

erations Award” (GEO Award) for the continuous improvements made in its Munich Headquarters factory and in its global supply chain man- agement processes. The GEO award is part of the highly respected “Facto- ry of the Year” competition in Ger- many, in which companies are hon- ored each year that set benchmarks in their respective industries by suc- cessfully implementing exemplary concepts in management, quality control and production. The panel was impressed by the

highly flexible lean production sys- tem for SIPLACE placement ma- chines, with which the company was able to double its machine production and its revenues from 2008 to 2011

Schmidt, vice president of A.T. Kear- ney and the person in charge of run- ning the contest, called the acquisi- tion of the German SIPLACE team by the Asian ASM Group a “perfect marriage”. “We are very excited about this award,” said Joerg Cwoj d - zin ski, head of SIPLACE supply chain management. “Our SIPLACE machine factory is a joint project where everyone acts in concert. The GEO award is another incentive to

Morgan Technical Ceramics Expands Extruding Capabilities

Latrobe, PA — Morgan Technical Ce- ramics (MTC) has expanded its extru- sion capabilities with the installation of a new extruder that will facilitate the production of larger ceramic parts ideal for use in industrial applica- tions such as thermocouples, thermo- stats, fuses, igniters, and heaters. The new extruder allows rods with an outside diameter (OD) of up to 1.5-in. (38mm) and tubes with outside diam- eters up to 2.5-in. (63mm) to be man- ufactured. MTC offers a number of custom material formulations and blends that are particularly well suit- ed for industrial heating applications, including alumina, steatite, magne- sium oxide, and cordierite. These ma- terials offer excellent electric insula-

tion and mechanical and thermal properties. MTC Latrobe is already well known for supplying precision micro parts (from 0.019-in. (0.48mm) OD rods and from 0.050-in. (1.27mm) OD tubes) for aerospace, electronics and medical devices. In addition to the new extrud-

ing capabilities, the MTC Latrobe site has automated high-volume glazing capabilities, for applying coatings on components that require

wipe clean surfaces. Contact: Morgan Technical
