micropigmentation
"European women often have brows that are too short to frame the face in the way they should. Over-plucking also often results in patchy brows that are too short in length, which can have an overall ageing effect," addsTracey. “Losing eyebrows can be very traumatic as it is such an intrinsic part of the face -my clients talk about the anxiety that comes with feeling a loss of femininity, style and beauty.”
Lips are also an issue for ageing clients, Tracey explains: “Lips lose their natural colour with age, fading during a woman’s 30s and
40s.They also lose their fullness and to top it off, gravity takes hold causing the lips to droop slightly during a woman’s 40s, 50s and 60s.
“Many women are adopting semi-permanent lip liner as part of their beauty regime, freeing themfromthis daily ritual, perfecting their lip shape, defining their natural lip line and enhancing their natural lip colour - giving themthe desired end result of gorgeous, healthy and luscious looking lips. Permanent lip liner also eliminates lipstick smearing and is favoured by lipstick and lip gloss users because they can still apply their lip cosmetics as desired whilst enjoying the benefits of perfectly defined lips 24/7.”
And if you thoughtMicropigmentation is just for women, think again! “At Smudge- free we see somanymen who are requesting semi-permanent cosmetics for eyebrows, lip colouring, scar work and especially formale- pattern baldness,” saysAndrew.
its paramedical uses
Whilst itmay seemthat applying Micropigmentation is just for aesthetic reasons, and perhaps a little vain or drastic, for those who suffer frompremature hair loss,Alopecia ormedical treatments such as Chemotherapy where hair is lost not just fromthe head but fromthe brows and lashes, the option ofMicropigmentation can be soul saving.
“Micropigmentation isn’t just skin-deep,” saysAndrew. “The other side of the coin to this ever-growing technologically advanced procedure seems to have been ignored and isn’t given anywhere near the status it rightfully deserves.
“The psychological effects and sense of well- being experienced by those who have received a ‘paramedical procedure’ can only be fully appreciated by such patients. Micropigmentation plays a huge part in the medical arena and it has been given the much deserved title ‘paramedical procedures’ since these procedures have far greater impact, both psychologically and visually, fromitsmere cosmetic applications.”
“The Hairstroke Brows procedure is one of the Nouveau Beauty Group’s most requested brow treatments, involving tattooing hairstrokes to imitate natural brow hairs. With brows patchy in places and in desperate need of some tending, I trusted Karen to create a perfect brow that would help define my eye area.
“First she carefully measured the area around my brows, to ensure that both brows would be symetrical. Next Karen marked out the brow outline to create the perfect arched brow shape unique to my face shape, and plucked stray brow hairs from the areas outside of her outline.
“Once she was happy with the shape created, Karen mixed a custom blend of pigments to complement my natural hair colour and complexion.Whilst doing this, an anaesthetic gel was applied topically to my brow area to prepare me for the produre.
“Karen then began her painstainking work of creating individual brow hairs
to create the shape. Each brow hair was created individually so that the difference between the natural hairs and created hairs was undistinguishable.
“The treatment wasn’t painful at all, despite it involving piercing the skin in a way similar to tattooing; each stroke felt like a brief graze.
“Once she was happy with each brow she had created, Karen wiped away an excess pigment and applied a healing balm, which I was told to continue applying whilst the areas healed.
“As soon as the treatment was finished, I could tell the new improved brow shape changed my
face.My eye area looks refreshed and framed; I feel ‘made up’without the need to wear excessive eye make-up. Now, after three weeks, my brows are fully healed and the pigment faded slightly to its permanent colour, I can’t imagine my brows any other way.”
