London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT) students enjoyed a careers lecture from Elaine Stoddart, Director of Education for Sterex Electrolysis, recently.

Speaking about all aspects of electrolysis, Elaine delivered to a full house of 31 students and three lecturers, explaining the different career paths open to an electrolysist including advanced cosmetic procedures, veterinary, medical, BIAE, transgendered training / lecturing, and the lucrative financial benefits to having this skill set.

Elaine included a presentation illustrating not only the benefits of hair removal but also of all the advanced techniques for thread veins, skin tags and over 21 different skin blemishes.

Habia head to Scotland

Habia are hosting an information packed conference just for educators in Scotland this month.

Taking place on 10th September at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel and Spa in Stirling, the Habia Conference in Scotland will focus on the changes and challenges currently being faced by Scottish hair, beauty, nails and Spa educators.

As with last year’s Habia Conference in Scotland, some of the key influencers and policy makers will be speaking, including Karen Corbett, Lead HMI for Education Scotland; Dr Stephen Vickers, CEO of VTCT; Hazel Mathieson of Skills Development Scotland; Iain McCaskey from the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils, Scotland; and Wendy Nixon, Habia Health and Safety Manager.

Andrew Darby, Deputy CEO of Habia, says: “This is our third conference in Scotland, and we know that educators appreciate the focus on the issues that are uniquely relevant to the Scottish training system. We have some great speakers lined up, and the presentation by Karen Corbett, Lead HMI for Education Scotland, on the results of the themed inspections into hair, beauty and complementary therapy provision should be particularly of interest.”

The conference will be followed by an evening show featuring the Habia Skills Team, offering delegates – free of charge – the chance to see up close the latest cutting edge techniques on how to improve staff skills.
