New Kaleidos Laminates
Kaleidos is a new range of laminates recently launched in the UK by ABET LAMINATI. The first application is in the reception area at Leeds University where the main reception desk is clad with Shards 879 from the Kaleidos range. Kaldeidos is the latest innovative and visually stimulating range from ABET LAMINATI. It comprises four interactive finishes to capture the essence and structure of the Kaleidoscope, ranging from the optical illusion in “Lens” to the broken fragments in “Shards” and the shimmering and playful colours of “Crystal” and “Sparkles”. Suitable for all vertical applications, Kaldeidos is part of the post-formed grade collection and comprises four colours in each finish.
Kaba Door Systems has provided automatic sliding fire doors at Hessle Library, Hull. Working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hall building Services , Kaba provided an automatic sliding SLX-SBF breakout fire door to the main entrance of Hessle library. The fire doors were specified as the entrance forms part of one of the buildings main fire break wall, the doors therefore were required to provide fire resistance and escape route to ensure its continued integrity. Linked into the fire alarm system, the doors automatically close, escape being provided by breakout door leaves which also close after use to provide continued fire resistance. At nearly £400 million, the Sheffield Building Schools for Future (BSF) programme is one of the largest in the country. Buildings incorporate high-tech features such as cashless catering and automatically controlled lights and windows which monitor the classroom environment and minimise power consumption. Different subject areas within the school have been defined by the use of colour-coding including the installation of 538 Leaderflush Shapland laminate- faced, Designer range doorsets. Some of the door-faces incorporate bespoke graphics to indicate the room’s function - for example, there is a music note on the main hall door, a paint brush for the art-room and cutlery for the food areas.

It’s that time of the year again when schools across the country have had to hold exams. Highgate Wood School in London – a designated arts college to the North of the City - is no exception. However, noisy construction work being undertaken to upgrade school buildings adjacent to the exam hall, left nowhere suitable for students to sit their exams. With only 6 weeks to go until the first exam, Business Manager, Tony Burton needed a quick and versatile solution and contacted Spaciotempo, the UK’s largest temporary building provider. Spaciotempo completed a fully operational temporary exam hall in less than 6 weeks from the initial enquiry in March. Click here to request literature
Cladding is rock on at new school The new £4m science building, part of Clevedon Community School in Bristol, is blending in serenely with its rural surroundings thanks to Natura cladding from Marley Eternit. Located in the beautiful Somerset countryside, the building’s exterior is clad in Natura fibre cement panels in dark grey Anthracite colour. Natura has a subtle tinted, semi-translucent applied coating, which allows the texture of the fibre cement to show through. This, combined with an extensive choice of colours, provides designers with the ability to create striking and aesthetically pleasing buildings. Click here to request literature
