usiness and technology do not always work seamlessly together. Jersey-based WARM (Web Administration and Resource Management), is making huge strides in bridging that gap.
An innovator in fintech, WARM has developed
cost-effective solutions that enable a range of financial institutions to launch new products from scratch within as little as twelve weeks. It gives insurance companies, for example, the ability to put a new policy on risk within fifteen minutes, rather than the usual several weeks of sorting out the paperwork with doctors etc.
WARM’s CEO, Jensen Nixon, is passionate about the way technology can improve costs and competitiveness without clients having to worry about the details of the technology. The solutions his company provides are 80% already built and ready to go when a client comes along. This is appropriately called the Business Capability Framework and includes the platform, database and customised templates.
It is therefore cheaper and faster for the remaining 20% to be finalised to suit that company’s specific requirements such as portals for brokers, clients or administrators. That means they can be selling their new, branded product within three

months instead of a couple of years at great expense, if they were to start from scratch.
Along with Chairman, Nigel Elliott, an actuary and fintech pioneer, the group has worked with such companies as HSBC, Aviva and Lloyds Banking Group and offer products providing everything required for financial administration, to include insurance, pensions, annuities, investments and structured products.
‘We develop a full technology stack for all of these from inception to completion,’ Mr. Nixon said. ‘That covers everything that they need from a financial technology perspective allowing them to get on with their own business quickly.’
WARM was created in Jersey in 2012 as a research and development business. Mr. Nixon became CEO after working for the likes of World Pay, several leading merchant banks as well as law firm Viberts, at the same time gaining an array of professional qualifications to include an MBA.
The whole group now employs close to 100 people in the UK, Jersey and a new office in India. The key strategy for WARM has been to create an administration product that is both comprehensive yet flexible. It took several years, perfecting and consistently enhancing the technology stack.
The insurance industry, which has been slow in changing, was one of the first sectors to benefit from this technology solutions, according to
Mr. Nixon. He believes it helps insurance groups meet the demands of younger generations wanting to buy their insurance online using a smart phone soon to be using 5G. Mr. Nixon foresees this Generation Z will want their mortgage products seamlessly integrated with insurance products at just a few clicks of a button, rather than the need to sit down with a broker.
WARM’s full administration platform reduces the need for in-house IT support, enables clients to concentrate on what they know best, which is running their own businesses. It has been designed to integrate with existing systems and connect with third parties such as aggregators and independent financial advisers.
The database is a crucial part of the platform, the modular design means that it can all be put together within 3 months.
Security was obviously a critical consideration and the company has devised a series of firewalls and a monitoring system that sends out an SMS message as soon as there is a threat.
However, it is the people that provide the key to WARM’s success, according to Mr. Nixon and he is proud of the Jersey operation’s 90% staff retention rate.
Their hard work has already paid off in the UK and the solution is now available within the Islands. After that the company is looking for expansion into Europe and beyond.
