Lucy Nicolaou talks about The LV Care Group


LV Care Group is a locally owned and managed provider of quality care. The group was set up ten years ago by Nick Bettany and Chris Shelton in response to what they saw as a need for more quality care provision in Jersey. The team believed, and continue to believe, that elderly members of our society deserve to live in five-star surroundings and be cared for by the most compassionate, thoughtful, kind team of nurses and professional carers. That belief is still the bedrock of the culture of LV Care Group today.


Today the group is the largest, locally owned care group in Jersey, employing 300 people. LV takes a holistic approach to care, delivering a range of related services, including home care, residential and nursing

care, mental health and wellbeing and dementia care. Through its qualified, specialist nursing team, LV Care Group can provide premium care for those with the most complex needs or those considered high risk.


LINC, LV Care Group’s mental health and wellbeing division, launched the island’s first Listening Lounge in November 2019. The Listening Lounge, which is located at Charles House, Charles Street, provides islanders with free, accessible mental health support, which focuses on early intervention, in addition to wider choice and self- referral options to help prevent problems escalating and before they reach mental health crisis. The service is delivered by LINC in partnership with Health and


Community Services and supported by the Government of Jersey, as well as various charities and agencies.


We talk to Lucy Nicolaou, Head of LINC to find out more about LINC and the Listening Lounge.


Tell us a little about yourself, Lucy? I am a registered mental health nurse and hold a first class honours degree in Mental Health Nursing and completed the final year of a master’s degree in Mental Health Recovery and Social Inclusion. Before joining LV Care Group in 2016, I worked within community-based mental health services in the UK and spent time with an overseas aid organisation in Southern and Western Asia.
