Beyond digital, the industry constantly strives to innovate across its product and service range too. Over the past year, for example, we have launched tax-approved International Savings Plans (ISPs) for multinational employers; the remaining elements of Jersey’s Charities Law were brought into force; and the seventh series of amendments to Jersey’s Trust Law were approved and implemented.
A number of further enhancements are on the horizon too, including the addition of the Jersey Registered Alternative Investment Fund (JRAIF) and a new Limited Liability Company (LLC) vehicle.
Looking Ahead It was a pleasure last year to see the opening of a new exhibition at the Jersey Museum which reflected on the evolution of Jersey’s finance industry and its impact on the local economy. The overall impression of the exhibition, which Jersey Finance is proud to sponsor, is of a jurisdiction that demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to innovate and an Island that works in partnership to build success for everyone.
These same qualities and aspirations will continue to inform our long-term future direction as an IFC too. Jersey’s finance industry is not just one industry, but a diverse community that offers an extraordinarily sophisticated set of skills, deep pools of knowledge and a broad range of specialist expertise.
With our eyes firmly fixed on the future, our ‘USP’ is our people and it will be their knowledge, expertise and skillset that will enable us to continue to play a positive role globally; not just in monetary terms but in how we are enhancing communities further afield too.
We are enabling philanthropic and socially responsible investments; making it easier for investors to put their capital to work; bringing about tangible change through infrastructure development; allowing companies large and small to trade internationally; creating jobs around the world; and helping people in all corners of the globe to realise their ambitions.
By investing in and drawing on the expertise of our people to build and maintain strong relationships with global markets and bring innovative solutions to market, Jersey will continue to play an increasingly important role on the international stage.
