he whole island will need to get behind the mission of turning Jersey into a Smart Island, but there will still be plenty of competition. Outside investment will be attracted by the prospect, but it will also give an
enormous boost to existing operators in the already- growing telecoms market.
Telecoms is already a big business with more than £20m in capital investment going into the Jersey telecoms market each year (£23.3m in 2017), and this can only increase if the Island is to become a Smart Island.

With a comprehensive inter-island and off-island network from Jersey through France and onto the UK, along with Connections between the islands and a separate path from Guernsey direct to the UK. Newtel offers dedicated internet access for businesses, ranging from 2Mbps to 100Gbps bandwidth. Private circuits are also available using Ethernet or TDM technologies. Newtel’s Multi- Protocol Label Switching also provides fast switching of data traffic over multiple routes, and their Voice service uses SIP connectivity which ensures least cost call routing locally or internationally.

cables.These cables carry voice, data and internet traffic around the world and, importantly, have proved to be extremely resilient by offering multiple routes for data transmission. Even a break in two cables at the same time, would have no impact on the flow of traffic.
