PART OF THE Paris-based global conglomerate Saint-Gobain, the UK building distirbution business, Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland includes general merchants and specialist distributors as well as manufacturing companies like British Gypsum and Isover. Its merchant brands in the UK, as well as Jewson, are Gibbs & Dandy, plus a number of individual merchant brands including Chadwicks, JP Corry, Jewson Civils Fraser, Normans, Benchmark Building Supplies, Pasquill, PDM, Matthew Charlton & Roger W Jones and George Boyd.
In July 2021, the group sold its Graham plumbers merchant business, with 73 branches going to UK Plumbing Supplies, 32 to Wolseley UK, with 29 branches closed. Earlier this year, it also sold distributor Ideal Bathrooms and the Northern Irish plumbing and heating merchant Bassetts, Guernsey-based heating and bathroom supplier DHS and bathroom supplier Neville Lumb to Wolseley UK.

SYDENHAMS STARTED 2021 WITH the acquisition of Staverton Building Supplies based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Staverton’s, a single branch merchant, began trading as Sydenhams from 4th January 2021.
The acquisition meant that Sydenhams now has 32 sites across the South including Timber & Builders Merchants, Specialist Timber Centres, Kitchen & Bathroom Showrooms, Tool & Plant Hire and Timber Engineering.
