and service levels have become more important. “I believe for the first six months of 2022 we will continue to see this positive growth, and demand will remain high. However, the second half of the year presents many unknowns, and we need the government to ensure the confidence in the wider economy remains strong.”
Builders expect the merchant to be the experts, yet those merchants have thousands of products they need to be the experts on. King says that during the period when the Keylite team could not get out and about as easily, the company developed the Keylite Academy where merchants could do online training to better understand Keylite products, the advantages of
using Keylite and how to advise their customers best. “This was well received by the merchants who became ‘Keylite secret agents’, with hundreds of merchant staff taking part, learning more and taking a share of many prizes. “As the Keylite team can get out more, we are offering training within our partnering merchant branch networks and on-site with the builders and installers who can benefit from switching to the Keylite roof window. We have proven success with speaking to the installer and once a builder starts to install a Keylite product, they very rarely go back to another manufacturer.”
King says that the sales team operates almost as an extension of the merchants’ sales teams.
“That means we have built very strong working relationships with distributors, which has seen us pick up two merchant awards in the past six months.” BMJ
DEMAND DRIVES DOOR DEVELOPMENT F
rom the urban to the intricate, JB Kind, the door manufacturer, has launched a range of new products and designs as part of its new Door Collection. Alongside the launch of the 2022 iPad - sized Door Collection brochure with its partner online flipbook, the company has also revised its Trade Essentials brochure, ensuring that merchant partners have all the information that they need at their fingertips, as well as exciting new products with which to work.
The Urban Industrial range has been doubled with the addition of eight new designs, including new black or white, Civic and Plaza, solid or glazed designs and there’s a new intricate hexagonal Quartz design which also looks stylish in pairs, and comes white primed to enable an individual paint finish.
Also new is the simplicity of the new 4 Line Horizontal design, a flexible design that blends with any interiors space, available in either a solid design or with a central glazed vertical panel. JB Kind sales director Simon Johnson says: “Our new 2022 Door Collection brochure is a direct response to customer demand. The Covid pandemic has seen an increase in desire for a whole range of interiors products, with customers becoming more vocal about what they want their suppliers to offer, and the profile of the door market has been no different. It’s because of this demand that we have now doubled the size of our Urban Industrial range, with the addition of eight new doors. This robust range has seen significant demand since it launched in 2020 and our team has been working hard to keep up with orders.
“From the striking new Civic and Plaza design’s, strong bold lines, to the stunning new hexagonal Quartz design, our 2022 Door collection brochure will both surprise and satisfy customers with interior’s inspirations of all varieties.
“However, we’ve not ignored our customer staples. You’ll still find those ranges that continue to please our markets, firmly rooted in our brochure. Our new Collection may be innovative, but our ongoing ethos remains

the same, to provide high quality products at affordable prices.
“Our Trade Essentials brochure has been relaunched, tailored even more thoroughly to the needs of our vital builders’ merchants and succinctly giving them all the information they need, in a handy A5-sized booklet. Featuring details on our FD30 glazing service, as well as the trade’s ‘bread and butter’ doors, we are sure that many merchants will have this to hand throughout their working day.” BMJ
