BMF COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR


The BMF is the leading Industry Trade association that represents and protects the interests of Builders Merchants and Suppliers to the Merchanting Industry. Membership has grown by over 138% over the last 8 years and we now represent 780 Member companies who have sales over £39 billion per annum and employ 208,000 people in the Building Materials Industry.


Due to continued growth, we are now looking for aCommercial Director to join our existing team. This new role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and its purpose is to proactively increase member understanding and engagement with BMF merchant members, moving the role the BMF plays with its members from important to “essential”. This requires the person to engage at the highest levels with members, establishing a strategic relationship to build added value across all areas of BMF’s offer, including training and skills development, business support, economic reporting, policy and public affairs, cross sector collaboration and use the iMIS CRM system to manage customer and business decisions The successful person will lead the following teams:


• Regional Managers for UK and Ireland • Membership Engagement Executives


The role will require a high level of visibility at the BMF head office in Coventry and will require travel to Members premises, BMF’s office in London and other major Industryevents throughout the UK.


To be successful in this role you will need to be an experienced team leader with a track record of managing regional sales managers, pipeline management (lead generation to closing new business), forecasting and reporting. You will be a sophisticated relationship builder and familiar with complex multi-stakeholder environments and can evidence having initiated and maintained long-term partnerships with members/customers. You should have strong influencing skills at Director and Managing Director/CEO level and should have had experience of working with Trade Associations, or within the Construction/ Building Materials industry.


Salary is negotiable and will be dependent on commercial experience.

BMF REGIONALMANAGER

We are now looking for aRegional Manager to cover Yorkshire, North East and Scotland to complement our existing team.


This position, reporting in the interim to the Chief Executive Officer and then into a new Commercial Director role , is home based and is responsible for dealing directly with all merchant members in designated Regions.The prime responsibility of the role will involve the setting up and running of Regional meetings and the selling of training programmes and other business related services to members.Other roles include helping deliver the Project Excellence Member Value strategy ,recruiting new members, promotion of and recruitment for membership of merchant staff for the Institute of Builders Merchants (IOBM), dealing with member enquiries, assisting on membership renewals and managing one of our Product Category Forums.


The role will require travel to Members premises, BMF’s Head Office in Coventry and other major Industryevents throughout the UK.


The position will be 4/5 days aweek.


To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong background within the building materials industry and previous experience of either working in,or selling to builder's merchants. A “can do” attitude is essential and we are looking for someone who has a positive outlook to life, is self-motivated and pro-active and has a real determination to drive the BMF forward with continued membership growth and engagement.


Salary is negotiable and will be dependent on commercial experience.
