BOYS & BODEN ORIGINALLY operated as a sawmill in Darlaston, Staffordshire. Cousins, Henry Boys Boden and Frank Albert Boys officially founded the company in 1895. Today, Boys & Boden has been honed into a specialist Builders’ Merchant, providing for both large scale trade jobs and small DIY projects. Stocking kitchens, tiles, external cladding, Crystal windows and doors, Boys & Boden have a variety of specialist sites including their Chester Showroom and DIY Superstore, while their subsiduary store Pear Stairs is a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of bespoke staircases.

CLEMENT BREWER’S DREAM when he opened his first shop in Eastbourne on the Sussex coast, in 1904 was to sell everything the decorator needed. When five of his sons joined the company after World War One, the company was able to expand beyond Eastbourne to Redhill, Tunbridge Wells, Guildford, Horsham and Bexhill. Still family-owned and run, the company now has 183 stores in the UK.

Browns
Browns Builders Merchants has been in Derby in some shape or form for over a 100 years. The Nottingham road depot is on the original site of the old Browns Foundry. In its current form, Browns Builders Merchants has been supplying building materials to the Trade and public since 1990. It is a family run, independent company, with come of the staff members having worked at the company since it formed in 1990.
The company is a partner of NBG, playing a full role in the Category Management Teams and Edd Parlato, son of director Jim Parlato, is currently vice chair of the |BMF’s Young Merchants Group.
