GUIDED DISCUSSION AND ROLE-PLAY

This section is called Challenge Accepted because we’re going to practice using your Safe Sitter® through six challenges together.

resources and knowledge to work

CHALLENGE #1 – CONTACT INFORMATION I’m Mrs. Miller, and I’ve hired you to babysit my 2-year old toddler named James while Mr. Miller and I go out to dinner. It’s the first time you’ve babysat for me, so you’ve arrived at my home 30 minutes before I have to leave so you have enough time to get all the necessary information.

• Give everyone a sheet from the Safe Sitter® Note Pad.

Important Information

• Tell students to be sure to record all the important contact information they need to know before the employer goes!

• Choose one student to ask the questions using the categories under “Contact Information” on the Safe Sitter®

Pad, but have all students record the answers. Remind students to print neatly so all information is easy to read.

• Instructor role-plays Mrs. Miller. As the student asks the contact information questions from the Safe Sitter®

Note Pad, Instructor should give the following information: 1. Employer name: Mrs. Miller

2. Employer address with name of town and special instructions to find house or apartment: 222 Maple Street in Mapleville, Indiana.
