Gateretail and Black Swan form alliance; no gategroup IPO The partnership benefits from the use of


Inflight retail specialist gateretail (a member of gategroup) has partnered with predictive analytics technology provider Black Swan Data.


Dubbed as a ‘game-changing alliance’ the aim is to redefine aviation through new tools and infrastructure. The objective of the partnership is also to


open up new levels of passenger choice and airline revenue streams. Leveraging Black Swan’s data-driven passenger experience software and gategroup’s global retail network, which serves more than 700m passengers a year, the alliance intends to transform aircraft into retail shops in the sky. According to gateretail, the partnership


will allow travellers to use their personal electronics devices to browse and purchase movies, music, food, travel, duty free and WiFi packages. Airlines will be able to cater to passenger


product preferences on current, connecting and future flights and share in new and expanded revenue opportunities.


LSG reveals 2017 consolidated revenue increase


The LSG Group has reported consolidated revenues of €3.2bn ($3.9bn) in the 2017 business year, an increase of +0.8% over the previous corresponding period in 2016. Changes in the group of consolidated


companies contributed to sales growth of €7m ($8.6m) The Group also achieved an Adjusted


EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) of €66m ($81m), which is €36.5m ($45m) below the 2016 figure, primarily due to the increase in transformation costs. According to the company, major growth


areas are seen in onboard and convenience retail, ‘because of the considerable global market potential of those segments.’ Chief Executive Officer Erdmann Rauer

AirBaltic lands ATR Airline Marker Leader Award


Latvian low-cost carrier airBaltic has been named Airline Market Leader of the Year at global trade publication Air Transport World’s Airline Industry Achievement Awards. AirBaltic collected the award on 27


March at the 44th awards ceremony hosted in Dublin, Ireland, which recognises stand-out individuals and organisations for their outstanding onboard performance, innovation and service. Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of
