NEWS ROUND-UP SDA to replicate T2E New Age beauty concept in T1

beauty concept on show in T2E will only be displayed in the future [renovated] Terminal 1 and maybe Terminal 4 when it is delivered [perhaps] after 2025.” He added: “Terminal 1, due to open

by July 2020, is the only place we will do something very similar to what retails in T2E. This is likely to be on a larger scale. “We will have more moderate

Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire (SDA), the joint-venture between Paris Aéroport/Groupe ADP and Lagardère Travel Retail has revealed to TRBusiness it will not replicate the recently unveiled New Age Beuaty concept in Paris Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2E anywhere else. Spanning more than 600sq m, the

Gategroup pulls IPO on SIX Swiss Exchange

HNA-owned gategroup will not pursue its intended Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Gategroup together with shareholder

HNA Group stated the decision not to list its shares was ‘due to a gap in valuation under current market conditions’. A spokesperson from gategroup declined

to comment further when approached by TRBusiness. Xavier Rossinyol, CEO, gategroup said

in a statement: “We will continue to implement our Gateway 2020 strategy, which has positioned gategroup as the market leader and allowed us to double results over the past two years. “We remain committed to continue

generating value for our customers and shareholders.” It is unclear whether the move will

affect gategroup’s pursuit to acquire the remaining shares of Servair from Air France- KLM and fund other corporate initiatives, as it had previously announced.

beauty concept is a key component of the new flagship T2E, which is undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion. The aim of the project is to re-invent

beauty based on three pillars – expertise, entertainment and service. SDA CEO & Director General Guy Bodescot told TRBusiness: “The actual

versions elsewhere.” Elaborating on the plan to implement a

‘very similar’ version in Terminal 1, where the international satellites will be merged, Bodescot explained: “This will be a premium version of the BuY Paris Duty Free concept with a spectacular finish we do not aim to put anywhere else. “We don’t believe French Caribbean or

North African customers, for example, would see this as too luxurious for their shopping pleasure. “It is important to be mindful of the fact

that we do not only service wealthy Asian and American passengers. Some customers want easy access to duty free shopping as well.”

JR Duty Free targets ‘decent return’

JR/Duty Free has outlined to TRBusiness the significance of its new 10-year contract in partnership with Gebr. Heinemann at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport Terminals 1 and 3. The previous lease term for its Terminal

3 duty free departures business – Terminal 1 re-opened for departing passengers on 19 June 2017 – ended 31 December 2017. This was after JR Duty Free reached an

agreement with the Israel Airports Authority that there should be a new tender, which it subseuently won – the terms of the previous agreement were deemed unfavourable. The new joint-venture lease started on 1

January at the airport, which handled 20m passengers in 2017. JR Duty Free Chairman Garry Stock said: “The real significance of 1 January was that it

was a new contract on different terms from the tender we won in 2013.” Outlining its objectives for the first year

of trading as part of the Gebr. Heinemann joint-venture, Stock commented: “The objective for the first year is a little different from a normal ‘tender win’ because in this case James Richardson was the incumbent and we were running the business very effectively. “Hopefully we will now have a chance to get a decent return, but only time will tell.”
