PARTNER CONTENT FOR CASA ADELA

Casa Adela SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MEXICO

Tucked away on a hilltop on the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende’s UNESCO World Heritage Site centre, Casa Adela’s heavenly hacienda offers travellers a moment to find calm and escape distraction beneath panoramic mountain ranges. Originally designed as a private residence

by artist John Houshmand and architect David Howell, the hotel features seven thoughtfully appointed guest rooms flanked by citrus courtyards and rooftop gardens. A natural blending of the outdoors with the

indoors, simple interiors seamlessly transition to abundant outdoor landscapes featuring century- old cactus, vibrant walls of bougainvillea, herb gardens and a swimming pool fed by a natural thermal spring. Lavender hedges and 17th-century church bells ringing through the valley greet guests at this sanctuary of peace. Known for its historic architecture and a

thriving arts community, San Miguel lures travellers away from better-known beach towns to Mexico’s interior for some of the country’s most vibrant and rich culture.

After seeking out artisanal treasures in the

historic centro, travellers can retreat for a day lazing by the pool, soaking in oversized bathtubs, and stargazing from rooftop terraces. On-site massage services are offered in the hacienda’s Garden Studio or in-room. When feeling adventurous, guests can take to

the canyons by horseback, or get a bird’s-eye view of baroque churches with a hot air balloon flight from the hotel’s grounds. The region’s growing wine scene offers a variety of nearby vineyards for afternoon tastings. Chef Vanessa Romero runs the show at Cocina

Adela, which offers a modern twist on farm-fresh, locally sourced Mexican fare each night. Guests can indulge fireside in The Living Room, or fountainside in The Courtyard beneath the stars. Visitors will want to wake up early for a rooftop

sunrise yoga session, and won’t want to miss a tour of the ‘Sistine Chapel of North America’ at the Sanctuary of Atotonilco — a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s only 25 minutes away by foot or five minutes by car.

Don’t miss Explore the mountains and valleys with curated horseback and hot air balloon adventures departing directly from the grounds
