Kingfisher Lodge by Mysk KALBA, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Kingfisher Lodge is situated on the Gulf of Oman’s coast, in Sharjah’s Kalba, an enclave of the city. A little slice of paradise, Khor Kalba was once only known for its lively fish market. Today it’s home to a boutique hotel featuring 20 luxuriously appointed tents, each with their own private pool encircled by tranquil surroundings. Views overlook the UNESCO Khor Kalba Ramsar Site, the neighbouring mangroves — a protected area that’s home to a turtle breeding area and rare birds — and the Indian Ocean. Embracing its Arabian heritage and culture,
the lodge offers guests world-class hospitality. Each room has been designed with the visitor’s every need in mind. Chic and comfortable, the rooms feature all the modern amenities guests would expect, with a calming colour palette designed to allow full relaxation. Each room also has awe-inspiring views, while at the same time retaining privacy. At the heart of Kingfisher Lodge is the main tent — a bespoke dining venue — which is somewhere to indulge in sumptuous food, or relax by one of the fire pits.
For those seeking a little bit of adventure,
the mangroves play host to a whole array of activities. Kayak or paddleboard through the water, looking from the sky to the sea to witness Kalba’s vast number of animals. Be on the lookout for the many species, in particular, the sand gazelles, hermit crabs, sea turtles and rare birds, such as the white-collared kingfisher and Sykes’s warbler. You can also search for these beautiful creatures on a guided nature walk or bird-watching expedition. Pick up the pace by heading to the
surrounding mountains, where you can hike down to the marshes. Take things to new heights with the most comprehensive high ropes course in the UAE or test your stamina on the mountain bike track. If that’s not enough, head out to explore the island on a fat bike or take part in some of the many activities on offer, such as fishing or beach yoga. For those looking to simply relax, the on site spa will massage away any stresses with its fully qualified therapists and locally sourced products.
Don’t miss The chance to enjoy a unique Arabian heritage experience before jumping on a fat bike and exploring the area around your tent
