PAID CONTENT FOR AZUL SPA

Azul Spa IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO, MEXICO

Some destinations invite a visit. Others invite immersion. At Hoteles Azul Ixtapa, on Mexico’s Pacific coast, the difference is immediate. Two national parks — Hermenegildo Galeana and Vicente Guerrero — frame the resort, while an ecological reserve for endangered iguanas stretches between the two properties and the Pacific opens directly onto the shoreline. Here, nature isn’t simply a backdrop, it’s an intrinsic part of the experience. At the heart of the resort sits Azul Spa, where 18

treatment cabins — 15 indoors and three open- air — are complemented by quiet relaxation areas designed to encourage a slower rhythm. At the centre of the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit lies a sensory pool that’s equipped with 12 anatomically designed hydro-jets. Bubble loungers target the waist and hips, while stations work the neck, shoulders and back. Reflexology footbeds stimulate circulation and full-length loungers deliver a gentle massage. The spa’s treatment menu features a range of

options, from restorative massages to immersive rituals. Aromatherapy treatments use essential

oils to promote relaxation, while deep tissue techniques target deeper tension. A prenatal massage offers gentle support, and lymphatic drainage uses light movements to encourage circulation and detoxification. Signature rituals elevate the experience further.

Destino Oriente combines exfoliation, body mask and massage with fragrant oils, while Destino Amazonas uses citrus and cacao to invigorate. Ritual Ella pairs aloe vera exfoliation with a yoghurt wrap, jasmine oil massage and hydrating facial. Unusually, the spa extends to four-legged

guests. The Paquete Zeus offers canine treatments including conditioning, brushing, moisturising and massage. Accommodation spans 735 all-inclusive rooms

and suites across two properties — Gran Turismo Azul Ixtapa Grand and the five-star Azul Ixtapa — both overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Dining highlights Guerrero’s coastal cuisine, while beyond the resort, visitors can encounter humpback whales, observe nesting sea turtles or explore the archaeological site of Xihuacan.

DON’T MISS Take a boat trip across the bay at sunset, then return to Azul Spa for the hydrotherapy circuit
