Engel Ayurpura DOLOMITES, ITALY

High in the Dolomites, in the quiet mountain village of Nova Levante, Engel Ayurpura offers a distinctive wellness retreat shaped by both Alpine landscape and ancient healing traditions. Situated at 1,182 metres and just 20 minutes from Bolzano, the adults-only sanctuary is the only hotel in South Tyrol dedicated to authentic ayurveda programmes. Dramatic limestone peaks dominate the skyline, glowing rose-pink in the evening light — a phenomenon known as enrosadira. Architecturally, the hotel sits comfortably

in its setting. The timber facade’s design recalls the barn that once stood on the site, while stylish interiors make use of natural light and materials. The property spans seven floors and has 17 rooms and suites, each with a balcony overlooking forest or mountain. Facilities include a heated saltwater infinity pool, a bio sauna, 12 treatment rooms and a yoga shala with inspirational mountain views. Before travelling to the retreat, guests discuss

personal goals with the wellness concierge. On arrival, a consultation with the resident doctor determines their dosha type — the ayurvedic

constitution that guides treatment and nutrition. Individual programmes combine therapies, herbal oil massages, steam treatments and tailored dietary adjustments. Cuisine is an integral part of the experience. Menus

are primarily vegetarian, use organic ingredients and traditional ayurvedic spices, though fish, meat and caffeine are available on request. A defining element of the retreat is the guidance

of Dr Parth Sudhir Mahajan, Italy’s only specialist in classical ayurvedic techniques. He trained in India and brings more than two decades of clinical experience. Dr Parth’s programmes focus on addressing underlying imbalances through treatments such as panchakarma, rasayana and fasting protocols adapted to individual needs. Guests enjoy continued access to consultations,

yoga sessions and ayurvedic guidance for one year from their departure, through Engel Ayurpura’s private online portal. The resort offers an unusual synthesis: ancient Indian wellness philosophy interpreted through the clarity and stillness of the Dolomites.
