What is the Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA) for CSPE?
If you are studying the CSPE short course for Junior Cycle, you must complete at least one Citizenship Action for each of the three strands of the course. These can be completed as part of a group or individually.
• Rights and Responsibilities Citizenship Actions are suggested on page 110. • Global Citizenship Actions are suggested on page 222. • Exploring Democracy Citizenship Actions are suggested on page 338.
As there is no written exam for CSPE at Junior Cycle, the main assessment comes in the form of a Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA), which can take place in Second or Third Year of Junior Cycle.
The Classroom-Based Assessment for CSPE is called the Citizenship Action Record. This is a record of one* of your Citizenship Actions.
*It should be noted that although you may complete one or more Citizenship Actions in First Year of Junior Cycle, only Citizenship Actions carried out in Second or Third Year can be used for your Citizenship Action Record.
Your Citizenship Action Record will form part of your assessment for CSPE and be reported in your Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
In this chapter, you will learn:
• What are the steps to completing and recording a Citizenship Action? • What is a Citizenship Action Record? • How will your Citizenship Action Record be assessed?
