• The UN launched the Sustainable Development Goals, so it seems that they have a plan.
• The UN is the only organisation big enough to make a real difference; any one person, community or country acting alone would be wasting their time.
• The UN will have to get all of the countries to lower their collective ecological footprint and take action on the Sustainable Development Goals. What I do in my own school or home is so small, compared to what countries could do, that it is almost not worth doing.
4. It’s big businesses’ and companies’ job:
• Big companies are the ones that drive unsustainable development by using huge amounts of resources and making products we don’t really need.
• Big airlines, car companies, energy companies and food producers should make it easier for all of us to act sustainably by making their products and services more sustainable with less of an impact on the environment.
• Unsustainable development happens because businesses and companies are greedy for profits and do not care about the impact on the environment, so they should be the ones to fix it.
5. I don’t completely agree with any of these perspectives: I will explain my own perspective in my Response Journal.
