1. What does the term ‘sustainable development’ mean to you? 2. What is the purpose of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
3. Choose two Sustainable Development Goals. For each, write down the name of the goal and give two examples of actions related to it.
4. Explain the term ‘ecological footprint’. 5. Name two actions any citizen could take to reduce their ecological footprint.
6. Can you name one positive development in your school that could be seen as representing sustainable development? (a) What is the development? (b) Which SDG goals would it fall under?
DISCUSS
Have a short discussion (5–10 minutes) in pairs or groups on whether you believe students or teachers in your school have, on average, the greater ecological footprints.
Listen to each other carefully and note down any good points that you had not considered.
Report back to your teacher and the class on what you discussed and whether you mostly agreed or disagreed, stating why.
