BCS CONTINUING AND EXPANDING
THE CIRCLE by Haruhiko Takai 高井春彦
I have studied traditional British life style through learning Polo at HPC which, I think, is the symbolism of British Country Spirit.
My association with HPC started from knowing/learning Polo and now our relationship proceeded to understanding, through Mr. Ozzie Ozawa, our International Club Ambassador, for Japan, and interchange by kind help of Chairman Nicholas and his staff.
Through our association in last 7 years, I have experienced the high skill of horse training and way to have relationships with the people who enjoy the game of polo. I have brought a few friends and colleagues down to the Club each year to enjoy a lesson under the tuition of the Club Coach and then to have lunch in the Clubhouse and watch a polo match or two and be inspired as to how it should be done and build our hopes to be on the field ourselves very soon.
This winter I had a wonderful and significant equestrian experience on the farm in Coronal Suarez where I received first class treatment from William Healy, Robert Graham and their friends.
I am so very appreciative to all who gave me a splendid opportunity of learning much more about polo and seeing the polo world through different and new eyes and giving me the encouragement to take things forward in Japan.
Now being inspired, I am considering arranging to have a Polo BCS Cup at HPC as Annual Event. The proposal of this event is to supply the opportunity to inform others on Polo in Japan where only horsemanship at riding grounds and horse-racing currently occurs. I am hoping to formulate this plan this year.
