Played for since 1902, the Roehampton Cup is one of the oldest trophies in the UK and Ham's most prestigious tournament. This event was kindly sponsored in 2016 by London Square, the developers behind the restoration of the Star and Garter building on Richmond Hill. This year's league games took place over seven days at the exceptional Black Bears polo grounds in Henley and the finals were played at Ham. The tournament formed part of the national Victor Ludorum circuit for the second year running and attracted some highly competitive teams as a result.

Through to the final were Strategic and Snake Bite, two teams who were already vying for top place on the VL leaderboard. Strategic opened very well gaining a significant lead, a different start for them as their league games had all been won with strong 4th chukkas. Snake Bite reacted well though changing their style of play in the second half, David Ashby began holding the ball more and gradually they came back into the game. The fourth chukka was neck and neck with scores rising in tandem. Snake Bite gained the lead and though Strategic held possession of the ball in the last few seconds they couldn't find the goal to equalise again. Max Kirchov was presented with the trophy as well as Frerejean Frères Champagne, Ham's official champagne and prize sponsor.
Also playing at Ham were the subsidiary finalists CCPC and CBAS, competing for the Critchley Trophy. A masterful display was put on by Kirtlington Polo Club member Nico Fontanarrosa, whose pony DOC Genesis won the BPP honours after the game. This made things tricky for Fabio Lavinia and the CCPC Polo Team from Cambridge; eventually Lynne Patmore's CBAS Team won the game and the silverware.
