The Dubai trophy 8 goal, Ham’s highest handicapped tournament, is played for in August. Exciting semifinals had taken place in glorious sunshine on the Friday and the teams through to Sunday’s final were Healthcare International and Harum Scarum/Tchogan.

Healthcare International looked strong, the combination of Pakistan international players Hissam Ali Hyder and Hamza Mowaz was a formidable opposition for Harum Scarum/ Tchogan. Benjamin Urquiza was replacing Ryan Pemble in the final meaning some team momentum may have been lost as well. A balanced first half ensued but just before the half time bell Healthcare International launched themselves two goals into the lead. Boudou carried on the fight though and Urquaza went on some fantastic runs to goal but a constant stream of electric plays from Ali Hyder kept them at bay.

Healthcare international were clearly in control in the second half and Daritchon played well above his handicap

giving his team the edge. The final score of 5-8 reflected the outstanding performance Healthcare International put in and a delighted Shane Younger collected the trophy. The MVP award was presented to Segundo Daritchon and BPP award went to Dudy (9yo Argentine mare) played by Ali Hyder.

In the subsidiary final were Foxtrot/ Andina against La Primavera. Both teams had been unfortunate not to reach the final with each coming close to a win in their semifinal games. The match was a close encounter with both sides exchanging goals. In the last chukka La Primavera were 2 goals in front and looked to have sealed the win only for Foxtrot/ Andina to pull level before the final bell. This triggered overtime, which went on for a further four minutes with each team coming close only for Ali Paterson to finally put away a deflected backhand to take the win for La Primavera. The best playing pony was voted for by the spectators and the winning pony was Prima Casina ridden by Olivia Shea.
