HPC Fellowship Award Jose Miguel Smith

Chairman’s Most Improved Player Garrie Renucci and Cuauhtemoc Velasco Aznar

Polo Pastures Charity:

As HPC the London Polo Club's 90th Anniversary year draws to a close, the Chairman has invited Sarah Caroline Tallents, the founder and driving force behind Polo Pastures to say a few words about her wonderful charitable organisation (www.polopastures.com) at their annual Player's Black Tie Awards dinner. An opportunity was given for anyone wishing to make a contribution on the evening to do so in support of Sarah's vital work. A most worthwhile Charitable Cause, founded in 2015 as a retirement home for polo ponies that have come to the end of their playing career, the charity finds and vets good homes to ensure a peaceful retirement after the rigors of their lives in polo.

The founder of Polo Pastures, Sarah Caroline Tallents, has had horses for most of her life and although she pursued a career in finance spanning 25 years she never lost her passion for horses. Sarah discovered her love of polo ponies later in life after she was given a 16 year old Argentinian Polo Pony called “Eva” by Howard Hipwood a former 9 goaler and England Polo Captain. This began Sarah’s love of polo ponies. In June 2013 she set up the Facebook group “Retired and Ex Polo Ponies” which is an online forum to assist players and owners to link up with a suitable non playing home for their ponies when their pony retires from polo. Since the formation of the group, with over 5,000 members, an impressive 420 ponies have been successfully re-homed.
